Of all the people to have benefited from Strictly Come Dancing, Anton Du Beke has perhaps gained the most.

The dancer, who comes to Fairfield Halls on Sunday with fellow Strictly star Erin Boag and their new show Steppin' Out, has turned himself from a man unknown outside of the dancing world into the host of prime time television shows such as Hole in the Wall.

"Erin and I were talking about this other day and we have been very lucky and it's all because of Strictly," he said.

"We are eternally grateful for everything we have received since the show started and we are having great fun doing it and that is the main thing for us, to enjoy what we are doing.

"Hopefully I will be able to do more of the presenting as I enjoy it, variety is the spice of life after all.

"They haven't confirmed another series of Hole in the Wall yet but hopefully they will as it has been a lot of fun to make and been an enormous success.

"People seem to like it and when I am on tour they are always coming up to me and talking about it."

The pair have also recently been measured up for model statues at Louis Tussaud's Waxworks in Blackpool, becoming the first ballroom dancers to be featured there.

"That's a great thing to be asked to do," said Du Beke.

"I just hope that it looks like me and not Rob Brydon."

In the last series of Strictly, Du Beke got further than he ever had before by finishing fourth, though him and partner Laila Rouass were dogged by newspaper stories over an alleged racist remark.

"That's the papers for you but we just carried on," he said.

"We had a show to do and we had a great time together doing it.

"It was my longest so far and I actually danced in December for once.

"It would be nice to make the final but I will be putting it on my CV that I almost made it last year."

Fans that went to last year's show, Cheek to Cheek, can expect a lot more new routines from Boag and Du Beke this time around.

"It's a different feel this show," said Du Beke.

"We still have the huge orchestra on stage and there will be a couple of similar features to last time like the question and answer session which is always pretty popular.

"The numbers are different and we have got some great dancers from the West End and a wonderful singer called Graham Bickley.

"It's a relentless show and it keeps coming at you but the audiences have been magnificent and dance their way out of the theatre."
