Organisers of The British Gas Big Dip - the UK’s urban swim festival - have announced the temporary pools and beach on Clapham Common will stay put for longer than planned.

In response to the attraction's popularity, the two swimming pools, adjoining beach and array of onsite activities in the park will continue to be a feature until August 14 - having originally been scheduled to go on July 17.

Radio presenters Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott number among the hundreds who have already paid a visit to the pools.

The pair broadcast their three-hour Heart breakfast radio show from the site soon after it was unveiled by former Strictly Come Dancing stars Jodie Kidd and Mark Foster on June 28.

It features mini water polo and coaching sessions in two heated pools as well as volleyball and sand-castle building competitions.

Harriet Scott said: "We had a great time on Clapham Common at The British Gas Big Dip. The whole team could have stayed there all day."
