A new community theatre group will be making its debut performance later this month with two back-to-back plays.
The Leatherhead Theatre Repertory Group, which was formed in October of last year, will first stage its production of Queens of France, a ‘farcical satire about status seekers and manipulation’.
This will be followed by Contract, written and directed by the group’s artistic director, Trevor Danby, which follows two characters on a remote island locked in a game of survival. Danby took up his role after retiring from his professional career as a writer, performer and director and wanted to ‘give something back’.
With support from Leatherhead Theatre, The Leatherhead Repertory Company was formed with the aim of weaving theatre into the local community.
For its debut performance, actors have been handpicked for the show in order to give a professional show to and from the local community.
Performances will run from January 19 to 21 and January 26 to 28 starting at 7.30pm each night.
