The first of a monthly gig series at the newly re-opened Waldegrave Arms will kick-off with a performance from recently nominated Irish Radio Artist of the Month.

The pub in Waldegrave Road will hold the first gig on Saturday, October 13, where Adrian Duffy will play two sets of acoustic originals from this year’s EPs.

Mr Duffy said: “I always get excited before gigs - be it Birmingham Symphony Hall or one of the big festivals, maybe even more so when it’s just me solo acoustic - maybe that’s more nerves than excitement.

“It should be a good crowd. Some family and friends from south west London and given the Waldegrave has just re-opened after a long absence it’s great it’s supporting live music.”

The singer-songwriter delivers super-crafted folk pop songs that combine simple yet infectious melodies with an intimacy and storytelling flavour, reminiscent of Neil Young or the Eagles.

He has recently released a new EP Everytime the Love Strikes, which has just spent four weeks on Ireland’s RTE Radio 1 playlist.

Mr Duffy says: “I have spent all my life in the music business but I’d say certainly the past 20 years professionally and out of the wings of my family who are almost all musicians.

“Let’s hope people enjoy this new music night at the Waldegrave. I’ll be performing songs from the recent EP's released this year and some takes on some interesting covers - maybe we’ll even get a few folks up and dancing. I don’t think it’s a full moon so we’ll be safe - I think.”

The gig will start at 8.30pm on October 13 at the Waldegrave Arms, in Waldegrave Road, and is completely free.
