Wandsworth chef Gordon Ramsay has been hit by a double whammy after being beaten in yesterday's marathon and a mag's poll.

The foul mouthed chef only made it to the third spot in a poll carried out by food publication Olive Magazine to find the most iconic British chef of all time.

British cooking cant be sneered at and our poll recognises the talent that has helped this happen.

He was beaten to the number one spot by 32-year-old Jamie Oliver, and lost second to 66-year-old Delia Smith.

But he came in ahead of Rick Stein and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

Editor Christine Hayes said: "British cooking can't be sneered at and our poll recognises the talent that has helped this happen."

Ramsay, 41, was also beaten to the finish line in Sunday's London Marathon by French-born restaurateur Michel Roux.

Ramsay said: "Michel Roux is gloating that he beat me but he is built like a piece of asparagus. He'll be dining out on this for the next 364 days.
