Panic Cell are a five-piece rock metal band who release their third album, Fire It Up, in February. Ahead of their gig at Scream Lounge this Saturday, lead singer Luke Bell talks to Graham Moody about being back on the road, the new album and having fun.

Graham Moody: So how's the tour been?

Luke Bell: Great, really good fun. I think the last time we did a proper tour rather than a few dates here and there was April 2008 and we've missed it. We've just been taking a really relaxed approach to our new album but love touring.

GM: You've just finished that album haven't you?

LB: Yes we took a bit of time out to write and record it. It wasn't rushed or pushed which was nice because the previous albums we made in constant blocks of two to four weeks and just got everything done really quickly with no time to breathe, but this was a lot different.

GM: Will you be playing some of the tracks at Scream Lounge?

LB: We are doing four of the new tracks. We have basically divided the set up between the three albums and are doing four tracks from each.

GM: You had a lot of success with single Save Me previously didn't you?

LB: That ended up being a really big hit and was in the rock video charts for 26 weeks which was great for us. It was a chart of the most requested videos and we had the number one a couple of times. I've printed out a couple of weeks and have them at home because they show us being ahead of Slipknot's Duality which is crazy. People were requesting us more than Slipknot. In the end the video was on for so long the video royalties they paid us totalled more than it cost to make the video.

GM: What can people who know nothing about Panic Cell expect?

LB: Some really uptempo, fun rock metal. We just enjoy yourselves and are there to have a good time and rock out with everyone. I usually jump down into the mosh pit and jump around a bit as well.
