Details of how unsigned bands can get a slot at this year's Glastonbury Festival have been unveiled.

The 2011 Emerging Talent Competition (ETC), which offers up-and-coming artists from the UK and Ireland the chance to compete for a main stage slot, will be accepting entries for just one week from January 10 until January 17.

Entrants from any musical genre can follow in the footsteps of previous ETC competitors including Stornoway, Scouting For Girls, We Have Band, the Golden Silvers, Ellen and the Escapades and The Subways.

The only way for bands to enter is via the official festival website at www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk.

"Once the entries are in, a newly-recruited panel of 40 of the UK's top music bloggers will help compile a longlist of 120 acts," said a spokesman.

"The long list will then be whittled down to a shortlist of 10 artists by judges including Glastonbury organisers Michael and Emily Eavis, before a live final showcase in April decides the winning act."
