International violinist Benjamin Schmid will be making his debut with the London Mozart Players with a rare performance of an early 20th century work.
Schmid, who has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, is to perform work with a unique history by German composer, K.A.Hartmann, rarely heard in the UK.
Written by Karl Amadeus Hartmann is a unique figure in German music, the piece was his response to scenes of the marching of Jewish prisoners to Dachau.
The affect of the atrocities are seen through his life's work, with his Concerto Funebre for violin and string orchestra written in protest of Hitler's occupation of Prague, and was sneaked out for its premiere in Switzerland.
The concert begins with a performance of Eberl's work of 1785, which was thought to be a new Mozart symphony in the early 20th century.
Schmid also performs Schubert's one-movement work of 1816, the Ronodo in A, in his programme with LMP.
