Status Quo stars Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi rocked out London's Leicester Square at the premiere of their first film Bula Quo!.

The 64-year-olds make their big screen debut in the action movie, which is set in Fiji.

Rick and Francis first tried their hand at acting with a cameo in Coronation Street in 2005 when they performed at Les Battersby's wedding.

But Rick confessed: "If I'm honest with you, I thought we were appalling in Coronation Street. But the stunt co-ordinator said we'd like to do a movie with you and we were highly surprised and highly delighted. And especially the fact we've now pulled it off."

Francis added: "Normally bands just make documentaries but it's a real movie and that's what it had to be for us. And it's in 200 cinemas, we thought it would go straight to DVD."

The film sees the rockers on the run with their manager, played by ex-EastEnder Craig Fairbrass, after they accidentally get on the wrong side of a shady gangster, played by the American comedian John Lovitz.

Bula Quo!, directed by Stuart St Paul, also stars Laura Aikman, Matt Kennard and Jean Heard.

It is released in cinemas on Friday.
