Blythe Danner has praised Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin for being such great parents in the light of their split.
The 71-year-old actress – who stars in new movie I’ll See You In My Dreams, which has just premiered at the Sundance film festival – defended her daughter’s “conscious uncoupling”.
Asked by the New York Post’s Page Six how Gwyneth was doing, Blythe replied: “Wonderful.
“People make fun of this, um, what do they call it? What is that thing that they’ve been doing? Separating, but being?”
Blythe struggled to remember the term her daughter used which has been heavily ridiculed and Gwyneth recently confessed she regretted saying.
But her mother added: “They are so smart… both incredibly brilliant. They’re making it work, they’re great friends and the kids are in wonderful shape. So I have to take my hat off to both of them.”
Gwyneth and Coldplay’s Chris announced in March last year they were splitting after 10 years of marriage but were staying friends for the sake of their children Apple, 10, and Moses, eight.
Gwyneth, 42, is now dating Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk and Chris, 37, is thought to be dating Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, 24.
