Australia have given their first ever performance for the Eurovision Song Contest after being invited as this year’s special guests.

Guy Sebastian had the honour of representing his country’s debut in the competition with Tonight Again, going on stage as the 12th act at Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle.

He is expected to give Australia a good shot at success as one of their best-selling musicians and the only male artist ever to get six number one singles and two number one albums in Australian chart history.

The nation were invited to take part as a special guest to mark the contest’s 60th anniversary which this year is taking place in Austria.

But some viewers couldn’t understand what Australia were doing there.

Last year’s winner Conchita Wurst has been hosting the event from the green room where she has been chatting to acts backstage, while Graham Norton is presenting the UK’s TV coverage.
