Return to the Forbidden Planet is an award-winning cult musical show which marries a storyline inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest with 20th century rock 'n' roll classics.

The show ran for 1,500 performances when it opened in the West End in 1989 and has now been revived for a 25th anniversary tour.

Featuring a mad scientist, giant green-tentacled monster and video projection of Queen guitarist Brian May as a newscaster, the fantastical show lands in Wimbledon this week for a run of eight performances.

Rock 'n' roll fans won't be disappointed, with a line-up of classic songs including Great Balls of Fire, This is a Man’s World, Heard It Through the Grapevine and Born To Be Wild.

Director Bob Carlton, who directed the original show, said: "It was an incredible time when Return to the Forbidden Planet landed in West End, in what was a vintage year alongside shows such as Miss Saigon and Buddy.

"I can’t wait to bring it back 25 years later, to introduce it to a whole new generation and to reunite with original fans of the show."
