The memories of a WW2 evacuee are being brought to life through an original piece of work.

Savvy’s Family Fun Night Out will feature an original play, The Girl on the Platform, fresh from its appearance at Brighton Fringe festival.

The evening will also feature Savvy’s adult group performing Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations by Alan Ayckbourn.

Sheree Vickers, Artistic Director of Savvy says: "There are two parts – one is a preview by Savvy adults and the other is being taken to the Brighton.

"The idea is to have a night away from the TV and get the kids out.

"You can bring Grandma, you can bring the kids and you will all enjoy it.

"[The Girl on the Platform] was originally written for a cast of eight and we had to redesign it for a cast of two.

"It’s a piece of living history.

"What started life as an inter-generational community project has now transformed into a delightful and accessible piece of physical theatre. "I’m delighted that this play has continued to live after its initial beginnings."

The play is created from the memories of Brenda Norfield, from Wallington, who was evacuated to North Wales at the onset of the Blitz.

The 80-year-old's story takes the audience through some of her most poignant memories that are not only unique to her, but relevant to Britain’s history at the time.

The Girl on the Platform is a family friendly show, utilising full-face mask, music from the era and the recorded memories of Brenda Norfield.
