Ruskin House is preparing to hosts its 22nd annual Folk and Blues Festival.

Garry Davis, who has been running folk nights out of the 300 year-old building for the past 25 years, has invited eight bands to put on a day of music on July 7.

Each group has grown out of Ruskin House, and their members are drawn from across the South London area.

Performers include Butt of Lewis, Alders 4 Six, Feuding Lloyds, Steel Riders, Los Amigos, Ron Trueman-Border & the Perfect Strangers, Libre Fuego and the Ruskin Band.

Don Hurley, lead singer of the Ruskin Band, will also be playing a tribute to the late great Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees who died earlier this year.

Mr Davis says: "We encourage people to play every Sunday of any level of experience. These bands have all come through Ruskin and really developed their skills."

Joining the bands will be a Russian children’s choir decked out in national costume and the Schiehallion Scottish Pipe band.

A licensed bar, BBQ, tea and cakes stand and bouncy castle and face painting for the kids will also be available throughout the day.

Last year’s event collected £1,000 for Great Ormond Street and a similar total is aimed for in aid of the Royal Marsden.
