A series of sociable summer schools will be held for youngsters keen to learn about theatre and performance on a professional stage.

The Epsom Playhouse is offering the schools to entertain youngsters during the long holiday and to give them the chance to make new friends.

EduStage Musical Theatre Summer School, for 8 to 12-year-olds, will be held from July 30 to August 3 with a performance of an original musical, The Magician, on the Friday.

It is designed for young people who enjoy singing, acting and dancing. All participants will be assigned roles where they will be encouraged to demonstrate their individual skills.

From August 13 to 18, 9 to 14-year-olds can join Pull the Other Theatre to help celebrate The World Shakespeare Festival with a drama workshop that introduces Shakespeare's great Scottish play Macbeth in a fun fuelled, highly energised, imaginative and professional environment.

By teaching physical theatre techniques, general stage craft, an introduction into Shakespeare's language and other staging skills, the company will equip everyone taking part with the skills to work together to create their own version of the play.

Dandelion Theatre Arts Summer Workshop will then be held from August 20 to 24 August, for 6 to 10-year-olds, which will see children learn the story, play the parts, sing the songs and perform the dances - as well as helping to make the costumes and props.

They will then put on a show of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to wow their family and friends.
