A youth worker found with 100 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin stuffed up his backside has been jailed for three years.

Daniel Williams, 26, from Thornton Heath, was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court having admitted at an earlier hearing to hiding the drugs.

He was arrested in Douglas Road, Kingston, on May 9, during Operation Dragon, an initiative to crack down on drug dealing in the borough.

Before his arrest, Williams had started work as a mentor for Your Story, an organisation which provides support for children and teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Detective Sergeant Bailey of Kingston police said after the sentencing: "The operation was aimed at these individuals and resulted in the arrest of Williams and a number of other individuals.

"His imprisonment should stand as a stark warning to anyone involved in selling illegal drugs that they will be pursued and brought to justice."

Williams was arrested after a plain-clothed police officer saw him acting suspiciously while sitting in a Peugeot when a man known to police for dealing drugs got in.

The men stayed in the car for about 10 seconds, which is when police believe a drug deal took place. The second man got out and Williams drove off towards Porchester Road.

He was stopped by police and, after a brief struggle, arrested.

The officer searched Williams and uncovered about 100 wraps of class A drugs, with a street value of over £1,400, stuffed up his backside.

At the sentencing the judge ordered the forfeiture of drugs, £350 cash and four mobile phones which were in Williams' possession at the time of his arrest.

After the trial a spokesman for Your Story said Williams had never been a paid employee and was only on a short trial with the charity.
