| For the love of God: Last year's procession recreated the death of Jesus Christ |
The annual Easter march through Croydon town centre is set to be held on Good Friday.
Churches Together, an amalgamation of churches from Croydon, is set to take the town centre back 2,000 years to Jerusalem in a ceremony to mark the death of Jesus Christ.
The procession is due to start at 11am outside the almshouses in North End.
Actors will recreate the moments before and after the crucifixion and worshippers will then be invited to sing, dance and pray.
Three separate processions are set to leave from Nottingham Road, Poplar Walk and the URC Church in Addiscombe Grove at about 10.30am.

As one of many christians celebrating this Easter I must confess it worries me that all Croydon can see Jesus being crucified on Good Friday and not resurrected on Easter Sunday. Could we please have the rest of the story told on Easter Sunday because truly Jesus lives and we worship a living Risen God

" .... is set to take the town centre back 2,000 years .... "
Yep - that seems like an unusually accurate description.

And with reference to Rose Jay's post, do not forget that Jesus was one of many to be resurrected from the cemetery
Matthew:27:52-53 When Jesus died, there was an earthquake, "the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints" arose. But they stayed in their graves until Jesus rose from the dead, when they began to walk around, appearing to many in Jerusalem.
27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
Wow !!!

What a lovely idea. I never knew about the other resurrected people.

All these people were raised to new life because of Jesus
overcoming sin & death.
Thats why we have eggs at Easter as a reminder of the new life.

If you wish to follow a religion good luck to you lot.
But, please, don't force it down the throats of those of us who abstain from religion, it's meaning and lifestyles.

So why are you reading these posts, Paul? No-one is forcing religion down your throat. The next thing is - you'll be reading the bible and then blaming someone for publishing and selling it.

I'm an atheist and a secularist but I have absolutely no objection to a Christian parade in Croydon. I trust the Christians will not object to other parades?

I have no objection at all to other religions celebrating their faiths, I worship a great big non-demoninational God. I pray however that all men may know the sacrifice that Christ made that we may be forgiven, set free and on our way to Heaven

I doubt that Croydon is a better place because a group pf persons re-enacted the Passion of Christ, that may, or may not, have happened.
Three different groups knocking on my door with a bit of evagelism is forcing something I don't want on me as is the handing out of tracts in the high street.
Like a colostomy, it's just not my bag. Sorry
