A temporary swimming pool was opened to residents earlier this week.

The pool has been built as part of the Make a Splash programme, which is part of London Mayor, Boris Johnson’s sports legacy programme to creates opportunities for Londoners to participate in sport.

Melanie Marshall, one of the UK’s most prolific swimming medallists, opened the pop-up pool.

The pool will remain open at Virgo Fidelis Convent Senior School, until December 13, and it is expected to welcome more than 1,000 people.

Boris Johnson said: "We’ve all been inspired by the awesome performances of Team GB, so I urge people in Croydon to make the most of this great pool and take the plunge themselves."
