Two men were arrested following a burglary in Beddington this morning.

Officers from Sutton Police were called to a burglary at a window company in Red House Road, Beddington, at 2.30am.

Suspects were tracked leaving the premises by a police officer using the borough's CCTV cameras from the Control Room at Sutton Police Station.

As they escaped into side streets and across waste ground, the police helicopter and dogs unit were called in to assist.

One suspect was located by the police helicopter team and detained after trying to hide under a car in Galpins Road, Croydon.

A second suspect was also found hiding under a car in Wingate Crescent, Croydon.

Two men aged 22 and 32 were arrested for burglary. The 32-year-old was also arrested for assault on police and racial abuse.

Police recovered a quantity of cash and a mobile phone. A search of the area also recovered a mobile phone.

Sean Phipps of Lavender Road, Croydon was due to appear at Croydon Magistrates Court this morning.

The 32-year-old is charged with three counts of burglary, one attempted burglary, two counts of assaulting a police officer and one count of using threatening/abusive behaviour.

The three burglary charges relate to industrial units on Red House Road.
