A video whizzkid who studies at a Croydon school hopes to swap the classrom for the House of Commons - after being enlisted to shoot Labour's campaign video for the Croydon North by-election.

Jack Slater, 17, called the shots at the BRIT School this week as Steve Reed's campaign trail reached Selhurst with David Miliband in tow.

Jack, who studies media at the school, has already created promotional films with some the party's top brass, including Ed Miliband and Ken Livingstone.

His talents were spotted by shadow business secretary Chuka Umunna after Jack made a short film encouraging local Labour members to campaign for the party in January this year.

He then shot Mr Livingstone's official campaign video for London's mayoral elections before joining forces with Labour leader Mr Miliband to promote Andy Sawford's chances in this week's Corby byelection.

He now hopes his footage will help Mr Reed secure victory on November 29.

Jack, who lives in Tulse Hill, said: "It's really exciting to be involved in all this and that my videos have been well-received.

"Hopefully in the future it will lead to a job at the Labour Party."
