Dispersal order launches to tackle antisocial behaviour

A dispersal order launched this week in a bid to tackle antisocial behaviour.

The six month order in Addiscombe started on November 16 and runs until May 15 next year.

It gives police the power to break people in a group up, ask people who do not live there to leave and to ban them from returning.

Anybody who does not comply faces three months in prison or a fine of up to £2,500.

A number of roads are affected including Lower Addiscombe Road, Grant Road, Storrington Road and Windermere Road.

The order applies to all ages, with police allowed to return anyone under 16 to their homes if they are likely to be a victim or acting antisocially.

Tony Brooks, director of public realm and safety, said: "The Safer Croydon Partnership is happy to support this order as a means of stopping groups of youths intimidating the public."
