Residents of Croydon North will take to the polls today as they decide who will be their new MP.

Polling stations opened at 7am and will stay open until 10pm this evening.

A list of polling stations can be found on the Croydon Council website, if you are unsure about the location of your nearest station you can phone electoral services on 020 8726 6300.

Candidates have campaigned for weeks after the byelection was called following the death of the area’s MP Malcolm Wicks in September.

A host of political figures have come out to back their party’s candidates including David Cameron, Ed Miliband, Ed Balls, Boris Johnson, George Galloway and Nigel Farage amongst others.

The list of candidates includes Steve Reed representing Labour, Andy Stranack for the Conservatives and Marisha Ray for the Liberal Democrats.

Winston McKenzie is standing for UKIP, Shasha Khan for the Green Party and Lee Jasper for the Respect Party.

Robin Smith is representing the Young People’s Party, Ben Stevenson for the Communist Party, Richard Edmonds for the National Front, Stephen Hammond for Christian Peoples Alliance and Simon Lane from nine eleven was an inside job.
