A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a train in Kingston this morning.

Paramedics were called to the station shortly before 10.15am, to reports of a passenger under a train.

An ambulance, London Air Ambulance and a cycle paramedic all attended.

The woman had suffered serious leg injuries, and was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting accompanied by the doctor from the air ambulance.

One eye-witness said: "The train driver was very shook up."

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious and officers will make enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident.”

"The train involved was the 9.27am London Waterloo service and the line was handed back to Network Rail at 10.49am."

A South West Trains spokeswoman said: "The line has now reopened and services are running normally again."
