The £11 million refurbishment of Purley War Memorial Hospital is officially underway after Croydon South MP Richard Ottaway performed the 'tapping out' ceremony.
Mr Ottaway was joined at the ceremony by the Trust's Director of Estates and Facilities Mike Ralph and Trevor Aylen, Senior Project Manager for construction company Miller.
Work carried out on the site will mean residents in South Croydon will have a facility providing integrated health services from a single site.
Once complete, Purley Hospital will have a new entrance and reception area, a refurbished outpatients department, purpose built GP facilities and Urgent Care and Diagnostic Imaging Services.
A presentation on the progress of the redevelopment project will be made at Croydon Council's Health, Social Care and Housing Sub Committee Meeting on January 8, at the Baptist Church, Brighton Road, Purley at 6.30pm.
