The Purley Way is due to re-open this evening after a bust water main caused the road to close for most of the day.

Emergency repairs were carried out on the water main on Mitcham Road near the Lombard Roundabout.

Thames Water said they are hopeful the A23 Purley Way southbound route will be fully open in time for the evening rush hour.

A spokesman said: “The repairs are now completed. There was no impact on water supply to our customers.

“It is just a case of putting the road back together again after drilling down to fix the pipes.”
