Police looking for a missing mum from Thornton Heath have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

Janelle Duncan-Bailey of Pawsons Road was last seen in Limpsfield Avenue, between 5am and 5.30am on January 2.

A 30-year-old man was arrested last night and taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.

Miss Duncan-Bailey, a 25-year-old care support worker, had made arrangements to leave her two children with a friend in Bromley while she attended a family function.

She left a friend's house at 4am to return home to Thornton Heath.

Police said they were aware Janelle had visited her ex partner’s home in Thornton Heath at 4.30am that morning.

Officers were called and Janelle agreed to leave the address with police.

It is believed she asked to be taken to another friend’s address in Limpsfield Avenue, where she was last seen walking towards a block of flats.

She was reported missing at 4.22pm after failing to collect her two sons who are aged two and seven.

Speaking to the Croydon Guardian yesterday, her father Richard Duncan said: “We are so worried about her.

"I have not slept at all while she has been missing. I haven't got a clue where she could be.

"All I want to know is she is safe. If anyone has got any idea where she could be we would like them to get in touch."

Janelle is described as black, 5ft 5in, of medium build with shoulder length black hair which could possibly be enhanced with hair extensions.

Anyone who can assist is asked to call the Serious Crime Directorate based at Sutton police station on 020 8721 4054.
