One of the borough’s MPs has praised the Government for helping households bring down their bills.

Gavin Barwell, MP for Croydon Central, has said welcomed the move to spread council tax payments over 12 months rather than 10.

The choice to pay in 12 monthly instalments comes into effect from April. Taxpayers need to contact Croydon Council to request the change.

Mr Barwell said: “Here in Croydon, council tax more than doubled under Labour.

“With Conservatives in government nationally and locally, bills have been frozen and now we’re making it possible for people to spread their bills evenly throughout the year.

“Another example of how it’s Conservatives who are on the side of hard-working families.”

Nonsense. 12 payments instead of 10 is not bringing down anyone's bills: you have to pay the same amount in the end.

But it makes it a lot easier for some.

'Here in Croydon Council Tax doubled under Labour'

And The Torys spend every penny of it. And are now looking to cut Council Tax Benefit to force more poor people to pay more. Whilst the wealthy enjoy no Council Tax rises.

Yup, The Poor get a Council Tax rise; but not The Rich. Not exactly fair of Gavin eh?
