Metal waste is the focus of new recycling campaign
Unwanted metal waste is the focus of a new recycling campaign in Croydon.
As part of the new 'Metal Matters' campaign, residents will soon be sent leaflets reminding them food tins, drinks cans, aerosols, foil, metal bottle tops and jar lids should go into recycling boxes.
Anything else made of metal can be taken to one of Croydon's three reuse and recycling centres.
Recycling all metal will ensure it is used again and again, saving energy, cutting carbon emissions and saving on expensive landfill charges.
Coun Phil Thomas, cabinet member for environment and highways said: "Food and drink cans are regularly recycled in Croydon, but our Metal Matters campaign highlights the fact that every metal product must be recycled if we are going to protect our valuable natural resources."
