Croydon’s sixth and newest public leisure centre will be ready at the end of the month and Waddon residents can have a sneak peek ahead of the official opening.

The fitness centre has two pools and offers a range of healthy activities as well as having community facilities available.

In addition to the pools, there are two fitness studios, a 65-station gym for both able-bodied and disabled customers, a sports hall, café and crèche.

Located on the Fiveways junction on Purley Way, the Waddon Leisure Centre represents a £15m investment by the council and is part of the Propeller housing development, which includes 119 new affordable homes.

Open days will be held on Friday and Saturday, 25 and 26 January, for Waddon residents.

The centre will be open from 4pm to 7pm on the Friday and from 9am to 1pm on the following day.

It will be fully open to the public from Wednesday January 30, following an official ceremony for invited guests on the preceding evening.

Councillor Phil Thomas, cabinet member for highways and environmental services, said: “This really is a brilliant new facility and is a fantastic showcase for the investment that we are currently putting into Croydon.

“It also shows how we are continuing to put residents and their health first, and I hope that many more people are encouraged to take up regular exercise as a result.”

Membership will be available from just £11 per week. For more information visit croydon-leisure.com
