An amateur filmmaker from West Molesey has created a web-series set in a re-imagined industrial revolution in locations across the borough.

The six-part horror and sci-fi fantasy web-series, To Kill a Princess, features scenes shot in Bushy Park, Hampton Court Palace and a studio in Hersham.

To Kill a Princess is set in a re-imagined Victorian Britain and focuses on Princess Ruby, the daughter of a former courtesan who Britain would never accept as Queen, who is set up on a series of deadly dates by her father to prevent her taking the throne.

A sub-plot is also captured in the series, with a royal surgeon experimenting to enhance the human body with steam-powered technology.

Creator Sam Casserly, 25, of Hurst Park, said: “I made To Kill a Princess to create something very unique and fun to develop my directing, editing and special effects techniques. I challenged myself to create something that nobody had really seen before.”

Mr Casserly said his ideas for the series came from horror films, video games and Japanese animation.

The series runs running every other week until March, with the third episode released on YouTube on Friday, January 25.

Mr Casserly said he planned to make another season toward the end of 2013, after finishing his first feature film, which begins shooting in May.
