An information day where carers can find out about the help and support available to them will take place next month.

Those looking after someone with an illness or disability will have the opportunity to discuss their caring situation with more than 50 organisations that offer services to carers in Croydon.

Advice and information will be available on issues including benefits and financial advice, transport, leisure activities and holidays.

The event organised by Croydon Council in partnership with Carers' Information Services, is taking place at Arnhem Gallery, Fairfield Halls, between 10am and 4pm on Thursday, February 7.

Councillor Margaret Mead, cabinet member for adult services and health, said: "Being a carer is a very busy and demanding job, which can offer little respite.

"At the council, we value the vitally important work carers do. Without them, the NHS and other public services would simply not be able to cope.

"We want carers in Croydon to know that there is both practical and emotional support on offer, and the carers’ information day is a great way to find out about the wide range of help that is available."
