Mayor of London Boris Johnson has urged Croydon pensioners not to miss out on their pension credits.
Around 5,600 pensioners in Croydon are missing out on an extra £35 a week, or £1,800 a year in benefits.
As the cold spell hits, Mr Johnson is encouraging pensioners and carers to check they are receiving all they are entitled to as part of this year's Know Your Rights campaign.
Mr Johnson said: "As temperatures plummet many households face extra pressure on their budgets as their fuel bills increase.
"I would urge pensioners to pick up the phone and make one simple call to check they are receiving all the financial support they are entitled to."
