Police have discovered several bags of what they believe to be herbal cannabis at an address in Broad Green.

Officers discovered the bags and other drugs items on Wednesday January 30 at an address in Woodall Court.

The Broad Green Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out the drugs raid after receiving a tip-off from members of the public.

After carrying out a series the checks, the team were granted a search warrant and raided the flat on Wednesday morning.

They discovered about 50 small ‘snap bags’ of what is believed to be herbal cannabis as well as a set of weighing scales and other empty plastic ‘snap bags’.

A 20 year old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

He has been bailed pending forensic analysis of the items and is due to return to a south London police station on 11 April 2013.

Sergeant Steve Ribano, from the Broad Green SNT said: “Again, we’ve acted quickly having received information from the public about the possible presence of drugs in Broad Green.

“Operation Hawk is all about local people telling us of their concerns about drugs in their neighbourhood and us using that information to take positive action where we can.

“We’d encourage local residents of Broad Green to keep on telling us if they have any concerns about drugs being used or supplied in their area.”
