Two men have been arrested and bailed after a teenager was stabbed at Arena tram stop on Tuesday.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers arrested the men on suspicion of attempted murder on Wednesday at an address in South Norwood.

The two men, aged 18 and 19 are both from South Norwood. They have been bailed to return to a police station in north London on Wednesday, 20 March pending further police enquires.

Detectives had issued a public appeal for information following the incident, which took place shortly before 7.45pm on the Elmers End-bound platform of the station.

The 17-year-old victim received stab wounds to his chest after stepping in to calm an altercation between youths.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.
