Six years after 17-year-old James Andre Smartt-Ford was shot dead at an ice rink in Streatham, police are now offering a £20,000 reward for new information.

At a party at Streatham Ice Arena, more than 300 teenagers were present when Croydon-born Andre was shot twice on the night of February 3, 2007.

He was pronounced dead later that night at St George’s Hospital.

Shortly before 11.00pm, Andre was waiting at the bottom of the stairs leading onto the ice when he was approached by a black youth wearing dark clothing.

Two shots were fired at Andre before he staggered on to the ice and collapsed.

The police have made eighteen arrests in connection with the investigation including seven on the night of the murder but no-one has been charged.

In a fresh campaign for information, police are now offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information leading to the arrest of Andre’s killers.

Andre’s mother, Tracey Ford, said in an interview last year: “My son was killed in front of hundreds of people, yet his killers have never been caught because the witnesses were too afraid to speak up.”

Detective Inspector Matt Gosling, from the Trident team investigating Andre's murder, said: "We believe there are people out there who hold key information that could help the investigation. We remain determined to solve this murder and bring some resolution for Andre and his family."
