More than 2,700 people in the borough began an apprenticeship last year, new figures have showed.

There was a 20.6 per cent increase in the number of apprenticeships launched in Croydon in the last 12 months.

A total of 2,740 people on Croydon enrolled on an apprenticeship in the last academic year - a higher number than any other borough of London.

Croydon accounted for 5.8 per cent of all apprenticeships in the capital.
