A Hilton employee was plucked from tens of thousands of staff worldwide to receive a prestigious accolade from the hotel chain.
Human resources officer Annette Mayerl, who works in the chain's Croydon hotel, received the 2012 CEO Light and Warmth Award, the company’s highest honour.
It was awarded to 12 exceptional staff members at a ceremony this month, with Annette the only one in the whole of Europe to win it this year.
She said: "I’m thrilled to be receiving this award. I chose a career in human resources as working with people and helping them fulfill their potential has always motivated me.
"I’ve been lucky enough to have had the chance to make a real difference to the team here at Hilton Croydon, working with exceptionally talented individuals across all facets of the business and making some great friends along the way.”
