Thousands of pensioners are missing out on £1,800 a year in benefits according to the Mayor of London.
Around 5,600 Croydon pensioners are missing out on an extra £35 in benefits and they are now being urged to check they are receiving all the benefits they are entitled to.
Croydon residents can attend a free drop in session at Age UK, 81 Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath on Thursday March 14 at 10.30am to 12pm.
The push to help older people check their benefits entitlement is part of the Know Your Rights Campaign running across London.
Older Londoners should contact Age UK their local Citizens Advice Bureaux for a benefits check.
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “As temperatures plummet many households face extra pressure on their budgets as their fuel bills increase.
“I would urge pensioners to pick up the phone and make one simple call to check they are receiving all the financial support they are entitled to.”
