A mental health charity and a primary school have joined forces to raise funds.
Mind in Croydon, and Rockmount Primary School in Crystal Palace, are calling for parents to donate unwanted clothes and DVDs.
The school will collect items and place price tags, with the charity's Westow Street shop then selling the goods.
Money raised will be split between the charity and the school.
Michael Wilson, headteacher of Rockmount Primary School, said: “This is a great project that everyone in the school community can contribute to.
"It is an easy way to raise funds for playground equipment and at the same time support a local charity and promote the value of recycling. "
Richard Pacitti, chief executive of Mind in Croydon, said: “As a local charity, support from the community we serve is invaluable and we will put the funds raised to good use helping residents of Croydon and their carers.
"We are very grateful to the school, parents and pupils for their efforts and for this opportunity to work beside them for the good of our local community."
Donations should be made by March 13.
