A woman whose laptop was stolen in North London was tracked to Wallington using her mobile phone.

The female victim told police on March 11 that she was able to use her Apple iPhone to track her Apple Mac laptop to Onslow Gardens, Wallington.

She was even able to give police the first name of the person logging on to her computer.

Officers went to the address and arranged for the victim to send a sound to the computer to confirm this was the stolen laptop.

A man, aged 30, was promptly arrested at the address for handling stolen goods.

He admitted purchasing the laptop knowing or believing it to be stolen and was cautioned for handling stolen goods.

"The victim was surprised and delighted with the result," said the member of police staff.

The woman had been burgled at her home in Highbury Hill, N5, on March 1.
