Croydon gives International Women's Day a Russian flavour
9:52am Thursday 14th March 2013 in News By Chris Baynes, Reporter
The sights and sounds of Moscow came to West Croydon on Friday as part of celebrations for International Women's Day.
A Russian dance group with traditional folk musicians, singer Kassandra Miles and 'patois poet' Wendy Gaynor all provided entertainment at an event at Croydon Voluntary Action resource centre in London Road.
Sonya Dunkley presented her book, Sammie Miller, while there was also a screening of a film about domestic abuse and talks about women's service.
The event was hosted by the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Forum as a celebration of women.
International Women's Day has been celebrated on March 8 every year since 1909.
