Emergency meetings have been called at Merton Council after a convicted sex offender was found living with the manager of a children’s nursery.

Simon Farr, 28, of Croydon, was convicted of distributing hundreds of indecent images of children as young as six in 2009 and was jailed for 12 months.

Last week it emerged he has been living with the manager of JAM Kids in Montgomery Close, Mitcham, 27-year-old Lauren Cleaver, for the last two years.

She has not been accused of any offence and it is not known if she was aware of his past.

A spokesperson for Merton Council said: "Private providers have a duty to notify Ofsted and the council of potential child protection concerns and we will be setting up a multi-agency strategy meeting to discuss the allegations."

The private nursery, in the Pollards Hill area of Mitcham, cares for children aged three months to five years old and received a "good" rating from Ofsted in its most recent 2012 inspection.

JAM Kids has declined to comment.
