Injured badger taken to Animal Care Centre after being bitten by dog in Coulsdon

This adorable badger - which was dragged from its sett by a dog - has now been homed with an animal centre.

Bonnie the badger cub, who is just 6-7 weeks old, was brought to the Riverside Animal Centre in Wallington after it was pulled from its sett by a dog in Coulsdon.

The badger had some minor injuries but these are now healing well. She will remain at the centre until she is old enough to be released into the wild.

Riverside Animal Centre is undergoing a major rebuild of its wildlife enclosures and the first phase is nearly completed.

The second phase will see dedicated accommodation for badgers like Bonnie, foxes and deer. But the centre needs more funding to complete the work.

Ted Burden, who founded the centre 16 years ago, said: “We need to find almost £25,000 to complete the next part of our work.

“We need to do it quickly as we already have animals coming in that will rely upon these enclosures being ready in time for the summer.”

How awful that while caring people like Riverside staff are doing their best to help badgers when they are injured the government is pulling in the opposite direction by going ahead with culling these lovely creatures in some locations.

I'm glad he's getting better- but I wish we hadn't got the badger 'cull' at all- in reality the reasons behind it have no basis in scientific research just it has been allowed on emotional realities
