Peter Ramage has promised to put right the wrongs of Crystal Palace's demoralising derby defeat to Brighton on Sunday.

The Eagles' central defender has struggled to sleep since the south coast display that saw Palace lose 3-0 to their bitter rivals and miss the chance to leapfrog Watford and Hull into the automatic promotion places.

Being a Newcastle fan, Ramage knows all too well about the importance of derby days - having also played against Sunderland for the Toon - and is adamant he and the rest of the squad will channel their hurt into making the fans proud of them again after the two-week international break.

"I am still annoyed and angry about it. It was not a good day for us," he said.

"I haven't really slept much since and keep thinking about it.

"There was not one player that was not angry and hurt by what happened and I know we are all going to be working hard to put what happened right."

A small group of fans took to Twitter to voice their frustrations in the direction of Eagles Damian Delaney and chairman Steve Parish and although Ramage accepts fans are angry, he doesn't agree with them questioning the squad's commitment.

"When you go on the social networks you put yourself up for this abuse," he said.

"I can understand the frustrations but you have to look to block all that out and a lot of people realise one result doesn't make a season.

"We are just as hurt as they are and it is a little frustrating to see that abuse. The result was crap and the performance was crap but I take it personally when people criticise commitment and desire to win the game. That should never be questioned and I know all the players take it personally.

"It's only a minute amount on Twitter, every club and every player has them. It doesn't mean we don't care about them but they have to realise what has happened at this club over the past four or five years and that it has taken a lot of bloody hard work from everybody, including the fans, to get them here."

On paper, Palace the best run-in of the top seven with Leicester their only promotion rival left to play while many of the others must still face each other and Ramage is ready for the battle for the Premiership it to go right down to the last game of the season on May 4.

"Hopefully, we can get one more point than everyone else," he said.

"I think it will go right down to the last game. Cardiff were the biggest winners at the weekend and it does look like its going to be one of four or five teams that can get that second spot. It is going to be entertaining for everybody.

"Luckily for us we haven't got many teams around us while the others do so points will be dropped one way or another and if we can take advantage of that we must.

"But we have to concentrate on ourselves and not worry about anyone else. Just do what we do."
