A baby from Wallington died of cot death at just 13-weeks-old, an inquest heard.

Parents Lee Laws and Victoria Holleyman woke to find their baby Tyler Lee Laws was not breathing on January 13, 2013.

He was taken to Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children, based at St Helier hospital, where attempts were made to resuscitate him for 25 minutes but he was pronounced dead just before 9am.

An inquest at Croydon Coroner’s Court, on Thursday, March 14, heard that ten days before his death Tyler had symptoms of a cold or "upper respiratory tract infection".

His parents were advised to give him Calpol to treat a viral infection.

The police child abuse team were involved in the investigation of Tyler's death and described it as a "tragic incident with no suspicious circumstances".

A pathologist’s report concluded that Tyler had died of natural causes and attributed his death to Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI) - often known as cot death.

South London Coroner, Dr Roy Palmer, said: "I’m very sorry of the loss of your baby in very sad circumstances but it goes down as a natural cause of death."
