A drive is underway to unite shops and businesses by bringing a chamber of commerce back to life.

MP Chris Grayling and Councillor Darren Dale have joined forces to re-establish Ewell and Stoneleigh Chambers to boost business and focus attention on the areas.

Ewell and Stoneleigh Chamber of Trade folded nearly a decade ago, but it is hoped restarting the forum will give businesses a voice and pave the way for more events.

Anyone interested in taking part should attend a meeting at the Station Pub, Stoneleigh, on Thursday, April 4, at 7pm.

Mr Grayling, who used to be president of the chamber of trade, said: "It was a good forum for local businesses and it kind of disappeared.

"What we are trying to do is see if local shopkeepers want to recreate it."

Mr Grayling said it was important to make sure Stoneleigh and Ewell do not get overlooked as efforts continue to revive Epsom town centre.

He said: "A lot of the focus of the borough is Epsom-related and this is a bit of a rebalance.

"We must not forget Stoneleigh and Ewell."

The chamber of commerce aims to put across business people’s views to decision-making bodies and organise events such as fun days, late night shopping and Christmas event.
