The 2013 Men’s Head of the River race, which was due to take place tomorrow (Saturday, March 23), has been cancelled.
The committee behind the Mortlake to Putney race has said the decision was based on predicted bad weather, which could make parts of the route along the River Thames unsafe.
As a result of the cancellation, normal parking restrictions will be in effect where applicable on the Putney Embankment and nearby roads.
Parking suspension notices that had been in place have now been replaced with signs reminding drivers that additional restrictions will be in operation next Sunday (March 31) for the University Boat Race.
Ahead of next weekend’s Oxford vs. Cambridge race, drivers should check the signs on the Embankment and surrounding roads before parking to ensure that they are not parked in a suspended bay during the event.
