A church worker who cared for her paralysed father as a teenager has come up with the idea of hosting a Carers Roadshow.
Jacqui Kershaw, 50, a member of the Ashtead parish pastoral care team, was the mastermind behind a care-giving event to be held at St George's Christian Centre in Barnett Wood Lane, Ashtead, on Thursday April 4.
Ms Kershaw said: "Years ago, when I was a teenager, I cared for my dear Dad when he broke his neck in an accident and became paralysed.
"There was just no help out there, when it came to day-to-day care and knowing where to turn for guidance and support.
"Things have certainly improved now, but there is still more that can be done."
Ten groups, including Macmillan Trust, Surrey County Social Services and Action for Carers, are expected to have information stands at the roadshow.
Ms Kershaw said: "I see the roadshow as a sign-posting event, where people can get information from groups involved in care-giving and help."
Everyone is welcome to attend the Carers Roadshow between 2pm and 4pm.
