A man has appeared in court after being caught dumping waste in a neighbour’s skip by enforcement officers at Sutton Council.
George Comley of Elgin Road, Wallington, was handed a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 towards costs by Croydon magistrates on March 12.
The 69-year–old pleaded guilty to dumping waste in a skip on private property in Elgin Road without the permission of the owner of the skip.
The skip was on a building site for a new house and the owner complained to council officers who traced Mr Comley through documents left in the rubbish.
Cllr Jill Whitehead, Chair of Sutton Council’s Environment and Neighbourhoods Committee, said: “Our enforcement officers work very hard to provide a valuable service to residents and this case show their real dedication to the job they do.”
