A group of dads, who met in a school playground, have set up their own brewery.

The Belleville Brewing Company, in Jaggard Way, Wandsworth, was set up by 10 dads with children at Belleville Primary School.

Four beers are available to sup in 10 pubs across Wandsworth, all bearing local references such as Thames Surfer, Battersea Browstone, Commonside Pale Ale and Chestnut Porter.

A total of 60 brews are made every week, with the dads running the brewery alongside their full time jobs.

Adrian Thomas, 50, who has a son in year four, came up with the idea after meeting home brewers at another primary school.

He encouraged other dads to get on board, citing the brewery's success to the make up of business-minded parents living in Nappy Valley.

The full time musician said: "It is all about making beer and delivering it. It doesn't matter how big or how small you are it's about enjoying home brewed beer.

"Increasingly drinkers are seeking an alternative to the mass-produced beers that have dominated the UK market and growth in the sales of craft beers is continuing."

The beers have been going down a storm since the brewery opened in January and were swigged at the Battersea Beer Festival the following month.

A motto of "Beers from over there, brewed over here" was invented by the dads, with the drinks based on American style tipples.

Plans are in place to run tours and taste sessions, while the drinks will be available to purchase from the brewery, shops and in pubs.

The beers can be enjoyed in The Bolingbroke, The Draft House and The Lighthouse in Battersea.

They also supply to the Elm Park Tavern in Tulse Hill, The Rosendale in West Dulwich as well as Blithe Spirit and Firefly in Balham.
